Colchcine is highly effective against acute gout attacks. The anti-inflammatory effect appears only in gouty arthritis: it affects the primary inflammatory reaction, including local infiltration of granulocytes and uric crystals, so the optimal result is obtained if the treatment started soon after the first symptoms appear. With a daily intake, Colchcine reduces the likelihood of repeated goat attacks. Prevents acute attacks in patients with familial Mediterranean fever.
Colchcine can be marketed as Colcrys and Mitigare.
